Our Story

Our Mission

We met while traveling, in those moments when you're far from home, but somehow feel more yourself than ever. Over the years, we’ve wandered through cities and mountains, shared meals with strangers who became friends, and learned that the most unforgettable parts of any trip aren’t usually found in a guidebook.

What stayed with us wasn’t the bucket lists or the picture-perfect places, it was the people we met, the stories we heard, and the feeling of truly belonging to a place.

La Siesta Retreats was born from that spirit. Our mission is to help others discover a different way of traveling , one that feels real, grounded, and full of connection. We want to create experiences that let people slow down, live like locals, and feel the true rhythm of a place. It’s not about doing more, it’s about experiencing more deeply.

We’re not here to tell anyone how to travel. We’re just opening the door to a way of moving through the world that’s brought us more meaning, joy, and connection than we ever expected, and we’re here to share that with you.

Our Vision

We believe travel feels better when it’s a little more human , when you take the time to really land somewhere, not just pass through. It’s not about seeing everything, it’s about connecting , with the place, with the people, and with the moment you’re in.

For us, the most meaningful moments have come from traveling this way. Travel has given us so much over the years: new perspectives, real friendships, core memories and stories we’ll tell forever. And while everyone travels in their own way, we’ve seen how powerful it can be when you show up with generosity, humility, and heart.

That’s the mindset we bring to every retreat. We do our best to give back even a little of what we receive, by supporting local businesses, being thoughtful guests, and rooting for the people who make each place what it is. It’s not about grand gestures; sometimes, it’s just about learning someone’s name, trying a few words in their language, or choosing the smaller, local option when it counts.

Bit by bit, retreat by retreat, we hope to inspire a quieter, more intentional way of traveling, one that’s good for the soul, kind to the planet, and generous to the communities that welcome us.

Our Values

Respect —

for people, places, and ways of life

We travel with curiosity, not assumptions. We respect every culture, every way of doing things, and every kind of traveler, as long as it's grounded in kindness. We’re not here to teach or take, but to learn, listen, and connect in a way that’s thoughtful and real.

Purpose — in everything we do

Nothing we do is random. From who we partner with to how we plan our days, we take our time to do things with care, always thinking about how our presence affects others. We put in the quiet work behind the scenes so our guests can fully enjoy the moment, knowing it’s all been thoughtfully handled.

Authenticity — come as you are

We believe travel can bring out the truest version of you,  curious, open, unfiltered. That’s why we build experiences where people feel safe to show up just as they are. No pressure, no judgment, just good people in good places, living the moment fully.

Two Paths, One Vision...

We’re Inés Sáez and Jakob Kaid, partners in both life and La Siesta Retreats. Our story began in a sun-soaked surf house on the Moroccan coast, where we met while volunteering. From that spark, a shared love for travel, culture, and slow, intentional living began to shape a dream that would eventually become La Siesta Retreats.

Inés is from Fuensaldaña, a small village in Spain’s renowned Ribera del Duero wine region. Jakob hails from the North East of England. With roots in two very different worlds, we found a shared purpose in creating immersive retreat experiences that blend luxury, wellness, and authenticity.

La Siesta was born from our desire to offer something more meaningful than tourism, an invitation into a quieter, more mindful way of discovering a place. Our retreats are small, bespoke, and thoughtfully curated. Whether you're joining us for wine and gastronomy in the Spanish countryside or a surfing escape rooted in yoga and simplicity, every moment is designed to feel personal, restorative, and deeply local.

We founded our first retreat in Inés’ hometown because she knows it intimately , the family-run vineyards, the stories behind the cellars, the golden fields that stretch into silence. We’re here to share these places not with the masses, but with a select few who value exclusivity, warmth, and a deeper kind of connection.

As we grow, our vision is to bring La Siesta to new corners of the world, each retreat a new chapter, each one grounded in local culture, mindfulness, and genuine hospitality. This is only the beginning, and we’re so excited to have you be a part of it.

With love,

Inés & Jakob
